The 2nd Annual Anglers 4 Autism Fishing Tournament will be held on May 6th at Jupiter and Palm Beach Inlets. All proceeds will directly benefit Autism Project of Palm Beach County, Renaissance Learning Academy, and The Learning Center at the Els Center of Excellence.
Autism is a condition that affects the social and cognitive development of 1 in 68 children (1 in 42 boys). Many of these children are also challenged by sensory issues that make every day activities difficult, and consequently, learning even more so. Renaissance Learning Academy and The Learning Center at the Els Center of Excellence incur more expenses than the general education community as many students require a low student to teacher ratio, the engagement of on-site occupational, speech, and behavioral therapists, and unique curriculum and teaching aides that specifically target each child’s optimal learning process. The school requires additional fundraising activities to cover the difference between state funding and it’s operating expenses.
